Overview of July Weather in the Southeast
Average July Temperatures
July, the region's most popular summer vacation month, kicks off with Fourth of July celebrations followed by lots of summer fun. Visitors and residents alike head for the mountains and the beaches in droves to find some relief from the usually hot and humid weather.

High average temperatures tend to range in the upper 80s and low 90s with low average temperatures in the 70s in most areas. Temperatures in the mountains are often 5 to 10 degrees cooler than other areas and sea breezes keep the coastal areas slightly cooler than interior areas. Afternoon thunderstorms, which often move in and out fairly quickly, are common.
