Dulles International Airport

Dulles International - General Information:

Dulles International (IAD) is located 26 miles outside of Washington, D.C. on 11,830 acres of land in Sterling, VA. Known for its Mobile Lounges and Plane mates, Dulles offers a unique system of getting passengers between the Main Terminal and out to the jet apron. A walkway has been added to Concourse B, giving passengers the choice between taking the mobile units and walking.Although interesting to some, the mobile passenger lounges can add 10 to 15 minutes to your enroute time. Drive time between Dulles and Washington, D.C. averages around 45 minutes.

Concourses at Dulles International Airport:

There are five major concourses at Dulles International Airport: A, B, C, D and Z. To find out which airlines operate from each concourse, visit the Dulles Terminal Map and Airlines Concourse Listing.

Metrorail and Metrobus Service To and From Dulles:

A direct Metrorail line to Dulles Airport is currently unavailable.

The Washington Flyer Coach Service does provide direct service to the West Falls Church Station on the Orange Line. Metrobus operates an express bus service between Dulles Airport and downtown Washington, D.C.

Other Ground Transportation:

Other ground transportation includes taxi, coach and SuperShuttle service. The metered fare between the airport and Washington, D.C. can run an average of $45 to $55, one way, before tipping. Driving Directions from Washington, D.C. to Dulles :

From Washington, D.C., take I 66 W then the Dulles Access Road.

Airport Parking:

Dulles has over 25,000 public parking spaces and parking is free for the first 20 minutes in all lots and garages. For drivers picking up inbound air passengers, there is a free Cell Phone Waiting Area.

Parking Advisory Updates:
Call 703-572-4500 to obtain parking information by telephone, or you may tune your radio to AM 530, when approaching the airport, to hear information about parking rates, locations and availability.

Daily Parking
There are two parking garages for daily parking.

  • Daily Garage 1:
    Located on the far side of the Short Term lot, north of the terminal. A moving walkway into the main terminal is available.
  • Daily Garage 2:
    Located near the International Arrivals Building, northwest of the main terminal. There is a covered walkway for people to and from the garage and the terminal.
  • Long Term (Economy) Parking:
    A free 24 hour shuttle connects the Long Term lots with the terminal Departures area. The Long Term parking area is some distance from the airport but offers an economical alternative.
