North Carolina Airports

Major and Regional Commercial Airports

There are four major airports and several regional airports in the state of North Carolina. Most flights to and from the regional airports connect through the Charolotte-Douglas International Airport.

Major Airports

Charlotte-Douglas International Airport
  • Airport Code: CLT

  • Directions: From Route I-85, take Exit 33 to the Billy Graham Parkway and follow signs to the airport for about on and one-half miles. The airport exit is at the Josh Birmingham Parkway.

  • Terminal: There is one terminal with five concourses. Be prepared for a bit of a hike between connecting flights, especially if connecting between regional and major airlines, although several moving walkways located in the airport do help a lot. See PDF Terminal Maps for CLT

  • Service: In addition to being a major hub for U.S. Airways, several other airlines provide international, national and regional service. See Airline and Flight Information.

Raleigh-Durham International Airport
  • Airport Code: RDU

  • Directions: Raleigh-Durham International Airport is centrally located. It is seven miles from Research Triangle Park, ten miles southeast of Durham and miles northwest of Raleigh. Exits from major area highways are I-40 Exits 284B or 285, I-540 Exit 2A Aviation Parkway/RDU Airport and follow signs to the airport and US 70 Exit 293 Aviation Parkway/Westgate Road and follow signs to the airport.

  • Terminal: There are two terminals, A and C. See Terminal Maps for RDU

  • Service: Several airlines provide international, national and regional service. See Airline and Flight Information.

Piedmont Triad International Airport Wilmington International Airport
  • Airport Code: ILM

  • Directions: Wilmington International Airport is located at 1740 Airport Boulevard in Wilmington, North Carolina. See a map.

  • Terminal: There is one terminal with one concourse. Terminal Map for ILM

  • Service: Non-Stop flights are scheduled to New York (LGA), Atlanta. Charlotte and Philadelphia with one-stop connecting service to hundreds of domestic and international destinations. See Airline and Flight Information.
