Hilton Head Plantation and Indigo Run are both residential communities. Hilton Head Plantation, Hilton Head's largest residential area, is situated on about 4,000 acres between Port Royal Sound and the Intracoastal Waterway at the northern end of the island. Visitors to the golf courses may stop at the security gate for a map and a visitor pass. Indigo Run is Hilton Head Island's newest private golf and residential community. Encompassing approximately 1,780 acres, it is located across from Hilton Head Plantation and borders the scenic marshes of Broad Creek.
