Ten Fun Things to See and Do in Myrtle Beach and Along the Grand Strand During the 2011 Holiday Season:

  • Dickens Christmas Shows and Festival: Celebrating its 30th year in 2011, this annual Myrtle Beach event held at the Myrtle Beach Convention Center takes place November 10 - 13. The atmosphere, inspired by Charles Dickens A Christmas Carol, recalls a 19th century holiday marketplace. Hundreds of costumed vendors sell everything from fine arts and locally made crafts to imported gifts and gourmet food items. Puppet shows, strolling musicians, Victorian teas, visits with Santa and offsite holiday tours add to the fun, offering something for family members of all ages.

  • Christmas Towne: This free one-day event takes place at the Myrtle Beach Convention Center on Sunday, December 11, 2011 from 2 p.m. until 6:30 p.m. Enjoy a tree lighting ceremony, photos with Santa, free holiday crafts, giveaways for kids and many other fun family friendly, free activities.

  • The Myrtle Beach Market Common Holiday Events: Festive holiday events at this shopping and dining village setting include several scheduled breakfast with Santa events, a Nutcracker Fair featuring arts, crafts, retail merchants, activities and entertainment, complimentary carriage rides on select days and the annual Tree Lighting Ceremony complete with a visit from Santa, photos with Santa, complimentary hot chocolate and carriage rides.

  • Barefoot Princess Riverboat Holiday Cruises: On scheduled days enjoy special holiday cruises, including a one-hour Intracoastal Waterway Hot Dog Lunch Cruise with Santa, Christmas Dinner Buffet Cruises and a New Year's Eve Celebration Cruise. The Barefoot Princess departs from Barefoot Landing near the Greg Norman Australian Grille. Reservations are required for dining cruises.

  • Grand Strand Holiday Parades, Flotillas, Tree Lightings and More: Several community events take place throughout the holiday season along the Grand Strand. A few popular highlights include the Annual Intracoastal Christmas Regatta between Little River and North Myrtle Beach, the North Myrtle Beach Christmas Tree Lighting and Christmas Parade and the Surfside Beach Christmas Tree Lighting and Christmas Parade.
