Virginia Sales Tax Holidays

Virginia has three Sales Tax Holidays scheduled for 2009, providing tax free shopping for certain hurricane preparedness equipment in May, back-to-school items in August and for certain products meeting the Energy Star qualifications in October 2009.

2009 May Hurricane and Emergency Preparedness Equipment Sales Tax Holiday - Monday, May 25 through Sunday, May 31, 2009. This one-week Sales Tax Holiday offers tax free shopping on items designated by the Department of Taxation as hurricane preparedness equipment, including: 2009 August School Supplies and Clothing Sales Tax Holiday - Friday, August 7 at 12:01 a.m. through Sunday, August 9, 2009 at midnight. This three-day back-to-school Sales Tax Holiday offers tax free shopping on: 2009 October Energy Star and WaterSense Qualified Products Sales Tax Holiday - Friday, October 9 through Monday, October 12, 2009 (Columbus Day).
