South Carolina Sales Tax Holidays

2009 Back-to-School Sales Tax Holiday - Friday, August 7 at 12:01 a.m. - Sunday, August 9 at midnight - 3 days

Qualified items include certain clothing, school supplies, computers and computer software, towels, sheets and many other items. For details, visit the South Carolina Department of Revenue Website.

2009 Energy Star Sales Tax Holiday - October 1 - 31, 2009 - 31 days

During the month of October, certain Energy Star qualified items will be tax free, including dishwashers, clothes washers, air conditioners, ceiling fans, fluorescent light bulbs, dehumidifiers, programmable thermostats, refrigerators, doors, and windows purchased for noncommercial home or personal use and that have a sales price of $2,500.00 or less per product. 2009 Second Amendment Sales Tax Holiday - November 27 - 28, 2009 - 2 days

This two-day sales tax holiday applies to purchases of handguns, rifles and shotguns and will take place every year on the Friday and Saturday after Thanksgiving. This exemption does not apply to antique or collectible handguns.
