South Carolina Sales Tax Holidays

2008 Sales Tax Holiday Information - Friday, August 1 at 12:01 a.m. - Sunday, August 3 at midnight - 3 days

During the three-day South Carolina Sales Tax Holiday, the state sales and use tax, and any applicable local sales and use tax, will not be imposed on certain items including:

  • Clothing and clothing accessories such as hats, scarves, hosiery, and handbags

  • Footwear

  • School supplies such as pens, pencils, paper, binders, notebooks, books, bookbags, lunch boxes, and calculators

  • Computers, computer software, printers and printer supplies

  • Bath towels and wash clothes, shower curtains, bath rugs and mats, blankets, bed spreads, bed linens, sheet sets, comforter sets, pillows and pillow cases
Items that are not covered by the exemption and will be subject to the applicable tax include clothing accessories, jewelry, cosmetics, protective equipment, wallets, furniture, items used in a trade or business, and rentals.
