A lone surfcaster enjoys a peaceful moment at sunset on Hilton Head Island.
Fisherman at Hilton Head Island find croakers, flounder and sea trout inshore, while the Island's close proximity to the Gulf Stream is good for catching bluefish, cobia, grouper, kingfish, snapper, spot tail bass, shark and swordfish in the warm ocean waters around the Island.

During the saltwater fishing season from April through October, fishing licenses are required. Freshwater fishing licenses are required from September through December for lake and pond fishing on the Island.

Licenses are available at many local sporting goods stores, bait shops or other major retailers. For additional information, call 1-888-434-7427 or visit the South Carolina Department of Natural Resources Web Site.
