Lafayette Square: Dating back to 1837, Lafayette Square honors the Marquis de Lafayette, or Marie Jean Paul Joseph Roche Yves Gilbert du Motier, if you prefer his full name. The fountain was given to Savannah by the Colonial Dames of America, whose Savannah headquarters overlook Lafayette Square.
