In 2008, the Screen on the Green outdoor venue moved from Piedmont Park to the Centennial Olympic Park Great Lawn. While many Atlanta Screen on the Green fans were dismayed about the move, the Centennial Olympic Park location is actually extremely convenient for tourists staying in the Downtown Atlanta area. In any case, the change in venue was originally announced as a temporary situation and perhaps the event will return to its Piedmont Park home at some point in the future.
A Few Things to Note:
- Outside food and non-alcoholic beverages are allowed at the event. Alcoholic beverages cannot be brought into Centennial Olympic Park; however they may be purchased from on site vendors. Food may also be purchased from local vendors.
- Blankets, picnic baskets, coolers and lawn Chairs 24 inches or shorter are permitted and will be subject to security checks at the main gate.
- Items that are not permitted include chairs higher than 24 inches, glass containers, grills, pets of any kind and, as mentioned above, alcohol.
- In the event of extreme inclement weather, the movie may be cancelled.

- 2007 Movies - Casablanca, Car Wash, Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid, Funny Girl and E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial (cancelled because of bad weather)
- 2006 Movies - Houseguest, The Wiz, Ferris Bueller's Day Off, Breakfast at Tiffany's and Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory
