Attracting an estimated 375,000 attendees, the annual Bele Chere Festival held in Asheville, North Carolina is the largest free street festival in the Southeast. Bele Chere, derived from an ancient Scottish dialect, means beautiful living and visitors from across the country gather to enjoy Asheville's picturesque mountains and vibrant downtown area restaurants, galleries, theaters, art exhibits and more.

A small sampling of featured events includes:

  • Bele Chere Urban Challenge, a reality TV style competition
  • Interactive Rides, Inflatables and Games
  • Music on several stages
  • Arts Park featuring the Best of the Best artists of Bele Chere
  • Rashad McCants Shoot For The Cure
  • A Children’s Area featuring activities and entertainment around the history, heritage and culture of Western North Carolina
2009 Bele Chere Dates
Always held the last full weekend in July and celebrating its 30th Anniversary, Bele Chere 20089 take place:
  • Friday, July 24, 2009 Noon to 10 p.m.
  • Saturday, July 25, 2009 10 a.m. to 10 p.m.
  • Sunday, July 26, 2009 Noon to 6 p.m.
