The Hyatt Regency Savannah is one of the most popular hotels in Savannah, which is no surprise considering its convenient location between Bay Street and historic River Street. If you are looking for ultimate accessibility to the river, this is the place to stay.
A real water lover may enjoy the private boat dock and water taxi which are located adjacent to the hotel. The concierge offers convenient tour arrangements as well as babysitting references.
Facilities and Guest Rooms
The hotel has a number of attractive facilities for business travelers and tourists alike. There are several meeting rooms, all with great views for those traveling for business. An indoor heated pool offers year-round swimming and a picturesque view of the river. Hotel guests can stay in shape in the 24-hour fitness center.
The guest rooms are spacious and comfortable with an array of amenities for travelers of all ages. My favorite part of the room was the iPod docking station. It was great being able to listen to my own music while getting ready to go out on the town. All rooms come with pleasant views. Rooms with views of the river are significantly more expensive, while less expensive city-view and atrium-view rooms are appealing as well.
Hotel Dining
If you wish to dine on-site, there are several options within the hotel. There is an extensive room service menu which I took advantage of for breakfast, but meals are predictably pricey for young adults on a budget. There are also two restaurants and a coffee shop that will more than satisfy most any craving. If you forget to buy any souvenirs or toiletries, the gift shop in the lobby is there to save you.
Valet Parking
The hotel has its own parking garage and offers valet parking, which you will find to be very helpful if you drive to Savannah. Self-parking is not available. The parking situation in Savannah is typically dreadful for a tourist destination. If you chose not to valet park your car, you must find parking on the street which can be difficult and time consuming. The plus side is that you will have very little need of a car if you plan to spend your time sightseeing in the city.
Additional Comments
Of all the hotels in Savannah I would have to rate this one near the top. It offers attractive and comfortable accommodations, one of the best locations and friendly service for a very reasonable price. I was surprised to find out that it is not one of the most expensive hotels in the Historic District. I recommend this hotel to any traveler, whether for business trips, family vacations or romantic getaways for couples.
