Veterans Day in the United States is a federal and state holiday, celebrated on November 11th, to thank and honor the nation's military veterans for their service, contributions and sacrifices.

United States veterans, members of the U.S. armed forces and their families are admitted free-of-charge annually on Veterans Day to most public lands managed by the Departments of the Interior and Agriculture. A few highlighted Veterans Day events in the Southeast include:

National Veterans Day Celebration

November 8 - 11, 2007 - Charleston, South Carolina
The inaugural National Veterans Day Celebration honors veterans and currently enlisted military with an array of events, including USO-style shows at the historic Charleston Music Hall, a Grand Finale at North Charleston’s Riverfront Park, parades and more at various locations throughout the Charleston area. Annual Veterans Day Parade in Atlanta

November 11, 2007 - Atlanta, Georgia
The 26th Annual Veteran's Day Parade inaugurates a new route this year along Peachtree Street, through downtown Atlanta and on to Centennial Olympic Park. The parade, which honors those who served, fought, died, and are still missing in action in defense of freedom, begins at the usual starting time of 11:11 a.m. A Veterans Ball will be held in the evening. North Carolina Veterans Day Parade and Ceremony

November 10, 2007 - Raleigh, North Carolina

National Veterans Day in Birmingham

November 11 - 12, 2007 - Birmingham, Alabama
National Veterans Day in Birmingham, one of the nation's oldest and largest Veterans Day celebrations, salutes past and present members of the United States armed services, including active, reserve, and National Guard forces. Annual events include receptions, ROTC and JROTC Drill and Color Guard Competitions, a Memorial Service, National Veterans Day Parade and more. Gatlinburg Veterans Day Celebration

November 11, 2007 - Gatlinburg, Tennessee
