Veterans Day in the United States is a federal and state holiday, celebrated on November 11th, to thank and honor the nation's military veterans for their service, contributions and sacrifices.

Free Entrance Day at National Parks, National Forests and More
November 11, 2009 - Across the United StatesTo honor America's service men and women, Secretary of the Interior Ken Salazar has announced that public recreation lands managed by the National Park Service, U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, Bureau of Land Management and Bureau of Reclamation will not charge entrance fees on Veterans Day. In addition, the Department of Agriculture is waiving entrance fees at its national forests.
