Savannah Tour of Homes and Gardens - Annual Spring Event

By Sheridan Alexander, About.com

Description:
The Annual Savannah Tour of Homes and Gardens offers visitors the chance to tour private homes and gardens in a variety of different Savannah neighborhoods. Each day of the tour a new neighborhood is featured for three hours, during which visitors may enjoy self-guided tours in any order at a comfortable individual pace.
This more than 70 year tradition is one of Savannah's most popular annual events and interested visitors are urged to book hotels and purchase tickets early. Other important considerations include:
  • Appropriate walking shoes are advised for your comfort and requested to help protect the floors in the homes.

  • The homes vary in age, size and style and may have high-stooped entries with 8-12 steps to climb, making them not handicapped accessible.

  • It is advisable to bring along some water and to rest occasionally during the tour.
Upcoming Tour Dates:
2008 Tour Dates - March 27 - 30, 2008
Tour Headquarters:
Tour Headquarters, located at the Christ Church Parish House (18 Abercorn Street, adjacent to Reynolds Square and one block off of Bay Street) will be open for ticket sales and pick-up Tour Headquarters will be open for ticket sales and pick-up March 25 - 30, 2008 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily.
