The Commonwealth of Virginia, with its beautiful mountains, valleys and beaches is a great destination in any season for fun festivals, special events, and holiday celebrations. The following selected events include some of Virginia's most popular festivals as well as a few smaller unique events, offering several fun ways to welcome spring during your visit to Virginia.

March Festivals, Special Events and Celebrations

  • Highland Maple Festival - Monterey
    March 8 - 9 and 15 - 16, 2008

    The annual Maple Festival, held on the second and third weekends of March, has attracted visitors to rural Highland County, Virginia, since 1958. Designated a Local Legacy by the Library of Congress, the festival features tours of sugar camps throughout the county, craft shows, delicious food including pancakes and buckwheat cakes, clogging, Blue Grass music and much more.

    March 14 - 16, 2008

    Featuring an array of quality vendors, this is one of the most prestigious shows in the mid-Atlantic.


  • Craftsmen’s Classic Arts and Crafts Festival - Richmond
    March 14 - 16, 2008

    Original designs and work from more than 400 artists and craftspeople are exhibited and demonstrated at this popular annual festival.


  • St. Patrick's Day Events - Various Venues
    March 17, 2008

    Find out about several fun St. Patrick's Day events taking place throughout the Southeastern United States, on and around St. Patrick's Day 2008.


  • Easter Decoy and Art Festival - Chincoteague Island
    March 21 - 22, 2008

    Local and national carvers and artists exhibit their work. Hand carved and / or painted wooden Easter Eggs will be offered in a silent auction.


  • Craftsmen’s Classic Arts and Crafts Festival - Chantilly
    March 28 - 30, 2008

    Original designs and work from more than 400 artists and craftspeople are exhibited and demonstrated at this annual festival in its 11th year.


  • Virginia Festival of the Book - Charlottesville
    March 26 - 30, 2008

    The largest gathering of authors, writers, and readers in the Commonwealth, this annual celebration of books, reading, literacy, and literary culture includes traditional author readings and book signings, a StoryFest day of children's authors and storybook characters, a panel on how to publish a novel, discussions on running a book club and more.


  • Mount Vernon Spring Festivals and Events - Alexandria
