From rodeos to treasure hunts on the beach, Georgia is a great destination in any season for fun festivals, special events, and holiday celebrations. The following selected events are some of the most popular for winter fun in the vibrant state of Georgia.
  • Chick-fil-A Bowl

  • Monday, December 31, 2007 at the Georgia Dome - Atlanta, Georgia
    The Chick-fil-A Bowl Parade begins a 12:30 p.m. in downtown Atlanta, followed by the Chick-fil-A Bowl FanFest, the ultimate pre-game giant indoor pep rally, including cheerleaders, games, live music, great food and traditional pre-game team walks. The day's events lead up to the big nationally televised game at 7:30 p.m. ET.

  • The New Year's Eve Peach Drop

  • December 31, 2007 in Atlanta, Georgia
    Atlanta will welcome 2008 with full day of family fun, beginning with children's activities at noon, and an evening of top-notch entertainment at the annual New Year's Eve Peach Drop at Underground Atlanta.

  • Island Treasures 2008

  • January 1 - February 28, 2008 on the beach above the high water line - Jekyll Island, Georgia
    Hand-worked glass float creations including stunning starfish, sand dollars and other pieces will be placed along the beach for lucky winter beachcombers to find and treasure forever.

  • New Year's Bluegrass Festival

  • January 3 - 5, 2008 at the Jekyll Island Convention Center - Jekyll Island, Georgia
    Three days of great bluegrass music at the 32nd Annual New Year's Bluegrass Festival.

  • Atlanta Boat Show

  • January 9 - 13, 2008 at the Georgia World Congress Center - Atlanta, Georgia
    One of the largest displays of boats in the Southeastern United States, the Atlanta Boat Show features the latest models of boats of all shapes and sizes.

  • 2008 Augusta Futurity

  • January 17 - 26, 2008 at the Civic Center - Augusta, Georgia
    The 28th Annual Augusta Futurity features the popular cutting competition, bull riding, a Family Fun Fest, the Futurity Country Dance and much more.

  • Southern Gardening Symposium

  • January 18 – January 20, 2008 at Callaway Gardens - Pine Mountain, Georgia
    Find out what's hot in the gardening world from landscape designers, gardening writers, nursery specialists and share ideas with other gardeners to help make your green thumb even greener.

  • Southeastern Flower Show

  • January 30 - February 3, 2008 at the Georgia World Congress Center - Atlanta, Georgia
    This premier horticultural event in its 21st year features landscape and floral exhibitions, plus garden merchandise, books, speakers and more. Many of the Southeast's premier garden designers and landscape architects will create extravagant indoor gardens for the Show, transforming Building A of the Georgia World Congress Center into a vision of color and an explosion of scents. Over 200 invited judges from across the country will critique the entries of many of the nation's expert horticulturists. Featured national, local and regional speakers will offer their expertise on landscaping, cooking, flower arranging, recycling and more.

  • Stone Mountain Park - Big Apple Circus

  • February 8 - 23, 2008 - Stone Mountain, Georgia
    The Big Apple Circus returns to Stone Mountain Park in February, celebrating its 30th season with 21 dazzling performances of a brand new show, Celebrate!. Audiences will be thrilled by the sights and sounds of a magical birthday bash presented under the familiar Big Apple Circus Big Top.
