Located along the boardwalk in a 1903 Life-Saving Station, which is designated as a Virginia Historic Landmark and listed on the National Register of Historic Places, this seaside museum celebrates the coastal and maritime heritage of the region. Featuring two gallery floors, the museum's collection includes more than 1,000 photographs and close to 2000 artifacts, which explore the history of the U.S. Life-Saving and Coast Guard Services, Virginia shipwrecks, World War II and more.

The Museum Store offers a nice selection of lighthouse collectibles, t-shirts, nautical jewelry, books and boat model kits, toys and many other gift items and mementos. The museum is open daily, except: Closed Mondays from Oct 1 until Memorial Day and closed Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year's Eve and New Year's Day. Hours vary.
