The black and white candy-cane spiraled Cape Hatteras Lighthouse, known as America's Lighthouse, is one of the most recognized landmarks in the United States. Climbing the 248 iron steps to the top is a popular seasonal activity for visitors to the Outer Banks of North Carolina. Climbing tours are offered each year from the third Friday in April through Columbus Day. Related Articles
