Mardi Gras, the grand finale of the Carnival season, always falls on the Tuesday before Ash Wednesday in February or early March. The largest celebration of the year in many areas of the Southeast U. S., Mardi Gras events include parties, parades, masked balls and other festivities. While New Orleans takes the cake (King Cake, that is) for Mardi Gras celebrations in the United States, many other cities and towns in the Southeast U.S. enjoy popular Mardi Gras celebrations as well, each with its own unique traditions and variations. From Louisiana to Florida, visitors and locals alike gather to take part in the revelry and crazy fun of Mardi Gras festivities across the region.
