The largest Labor Day weekend fireworks show in the nation and Knoxville's annual signature event, the Boomsday Festival offers a free day of fun for all ages. Enjoy amusement games, festival food, exhibits, entertainment, and a Family Fun Zone featuring activities for children, inflatables and more. The event culminates with the eagerly awaited annual fireworks extravaganza. The 2011 Boomsday Festival takes place on Sunday, September 4th from 1 p.m. to 10 p.m. This year, for the first time in over 24 years, the fireworks launch is moving to downtown Knoxville's Railroad Bridge because of construction on the Henley Street Bridge.
The fireworks show begins at approximately 9:30 p.m., although visitors will want to arrive much earlier for easier parking and to enjoy some of the many daytime events and activities. Also, note that there will be several road closures during the festival. For details about scheduled events, road closures, parking maps, festival tips and restricted items, visit the Boomsday Festival Website.
