State Fairs, County Fairs and Country Fairs - Celebrate the Agricultural Heritage of the Southeast US

Saturday June 20, 2009
Caramel Apples, Cotton Candy, Bright Midway Lights, Farm Exhibits, Blue Ribbons and So Much More - Beginning in the summer and continuing throughout the fall, state fairs and hundreds of county and community fairs in the Southeast attract millions of visitors each year. Celebrating the rich Southern agricultural heritage, popular fair attractions include everything from traditional carnival-style fun and food to educational state exhibits, prize-winning farm animals, grandstand entertainment and concerts by world famous performing artists.

If you are traveling from out of the area, a visit to a state or county fair offers a glimpse into some of the rural traditions and folkways of the Southeast. If you live in the South and are looking for a fun outing or a short trip that won't require too much driving, chances are that there are several state and county fairs located within an easy drive and offering an array of ways to celebrate your state and the region.
