Roanoke Island - Mystery and History on the North Carolina Outer Banks
Friday May 29, 2009
Steeped in mystery, the history of Roanoke Island is entwined with the story of America's first English settlers. Popular for its Victorian-style Bed and Breakfasts in the quaint harbor village of Manteo, Roanoke Island also offers an array of sightseeing attractions including museums, historic sites, the North Carolina Aquarium, the Elizabethan Gardens (pictured here) and the long running outdoor drama, The Lost Colony. First Fridays in Manteo offer live music, unique shopping and a welcoming atmosphere, 6 to 8 p.m. from April through December. Related Articles
