Virginia Launches a New Promotion for Travel Savings

Earlier this week, a statewide program featuring over 200 special Virginia travel offers launched in a unique way at George Washington's Mount Vernon Estate. Forty adventurous travelers gathered on the grounds of Mount Vernon, packed and ready to enjoy one of four overnight getaways to top secret locations in Virginia. After the guests were treated to a tour of Mount Vernon and assigned to one of four groups, George Washington disclosed the secret trip itineraries for each group. Trips included:

• An adventure in Luray / Page County, featuring visits to Luray Caverns and Shenandoah National Park
• A getaway to Richmond and Charlottesville including a Segway tour of downtown Richmond, a winery visit and a tour of historic Charlottesville and Monticello
• A trip to Loudoun County for winery tours, history, shopping and more
• A Virginia Beach getaway featuring sea kayaking, spa pampering and other coastal activities

The promotion, Virginia's 40 Off Travel Deals offers travel savings on an array of attractions, activities and lodging. It is one of several Virginia 2009 travel promotions planned in celebration of the 40th anniversary of the Virginia is for Lovers tourism slogan.
