Tropical Storm Hanna Moves Northward from the Carolinas
Saturday September 6, 2008
Tropical Storm Hanna made landfall early this morning near the North Carolina and South Carolina border and is moving rapidly toward the Northeast. At 2 p.m., the National Weather Service announced that the Tropical Storm Warning has been discontinued from Cape Hatteras, North Carolina southward. The center of Hanna is expected to move through the eastern Mid-Atlantic states this afternoon before heading to southern New England tonight and Sunday. Flooding, tropical storm force winds and possible isolated tornadoes are causing airport delays and difficult driving conditions in affected areas. Travelers in the region should check airport delays, potential event cancellations and road conditions before making any travel plans until the storm has passed.
